TDK Lambda EMS 300-5-D Power Supply

The TDK Lambda EMS 300-5-D Power Supply allows the user to perform monitoring capacities toward the U4 and the connected circuits. These capacities include: activation delay, low voltage blocking, overvoltage protection, mode identification, and remote ignition. In every flaw condition, Q5 will be low, initiating the digital shutdown ports in the PWM.

On the EMS 300-5-D, the under-voltage feature locks the unregulated side of the positive voltage controller (an indirect estimation of the AC input voltage) may be sensed through R17 and R18 toward pin 6 of U4. At the point that the unregulated voltage at CR1 is underneath 13 V, pin 7 of U4 increments, keeping Q5 completely (saturated). Pins 5 & 8 about PWM is thus clamped low by CR15 closing down the PWM. When the voltage rises over 13 V, pin 7 for U4 latches low. Thus, Q5 will turn off by diodes CR12, CR14, CR16 and CR17. These are regulated separately by the remote turn-on, thermostat protection, overvoltage protection, and turn-on delay circuits.

This unit also includes a helpful feature called Remote programming by External Resistance. An opening in the remote programming circuit is a high programming resistance and will permit an uncontrolled current increase, surpassing the maximum output of the instrument. This could cause damage to the power supply and/or the load. Therefore, every programming resistor switcher should have shorting contacts; this type of shorting switch connects every successive position before disconnecting the preceding one.
